Mother of Metal

Artisan Wire-Wrapped Gemstone Jewelry with Heart & Intention
Handcrafted in New Brunswick, Canada, from reclaimed copper, found objects, and hand-selected gemstones.

Mother of Metal exists because I needed a way to reclaim my creativity, step out of the corporate box, and support myself doing meaningful, soul-led work — as a one-woman maker with intention at the heart of every piece.

This is slow craft.
This is wearable art.
This is jewellery with a RE-purpose.

What I Make (and Why It Matters)

Mother of Metal is a one-woman jewelry studio creating heirloom-quality, wire-wrapped gemstone jewelry and small home décor using reclaimed copper, repurposed materials, and found treasures.

  • Designed and handcrafted by me
  • Made in small batches or as a true one-of-a-kind
  • Rooted in intention, symbolism, and respect for the Earth
  • Created for people who value meaning over mass production

No factories. No shortcuts. No trend-chasing.

A True One-Woman Show

When I say one-woman show, I mean it — in every sense of the phrase.

  • Choose and gather materials through beachcombing, thrifting, and yes — dumpster diving
  • Strip wire, polish stones, and deconstruct leather coats so materials can be reborn
  • Work with hand tools and small appliances (my rock tumbler is a studio MVP)
  • Adapt my tools — like upgrading to electric scissors — to protect my hands as arthritis becomes part of the journey
  • Manage my own website, answer every message, pack every order, and load my own vehicle for in-person shows

Nothing is outsourced. Nothing is automated away.
Every step carries my hands, my time, and my care.

Craft, Experience & Ongoing Mastery

I am self-taught, with over 20 years of jewelry-making experience, and have been creating full-time since 2012.

My work is shaped by:

  • Decades of hands-on practice
  • Deep material knowledge gained through experimentation and repetition
  • Ongoing research into metalsmithing, wire techniques, gemstone lore, and sustainable making

I am always learning — refining my craft, improving how I share my work, and building my business in ways that align with my values. Growth matters to me, but never at the expense of integrity, sustainability, or intention.

Craft as Intention, Therapy, and Meditation

Each piece I create is more than an object — it’s a process.

The act of wire wrapping is:

  • A meditation
  • An exercise in intention
  • A form of therapy

I work slowly and deliberately, allowing the materials to guide the design. No two pieces are ever identical, because no two moments — or people — are.

Materials with a Past (and a Future)

Reclaimed copper, repurposed leather, found stones, and carefully chosen gemstones are central to my work.

I believe materials carry stories.
My role is not to dominate them — but to listen, honour, and transform.

This approach keeps usable materials out of landfills and turns forgotten things into meaningful talismans meant to be worn, gifted, and cherished.

Who Mother of Metal Is For

Mother of Metal is for:

  • Soulful, earth-connected humans
  • Crystal lovers and symbolism seekers
  • People who value craftsmanship over convenience
  • Those drawn to ritual, intention, and handmade beauty
  • Anyone tired of disposable, soulless “stuff”

If you believe art is a necessary expression of a beautiful life — you’re in the right place.

A Living, Growing Practice

Mother of Metal continues to evolve — just like I do.

The future holds:

  • More intentional online offerings
  • More custom and memorial pieces
  • Fewer but more meaningful in-person shows
  • Continued learning, experimentation, and creative growth

What will never change is the heart behind the work:
honesty, intention, craftsmanship, and respect for the Earth.
