A polished sphere of metallic hematite sits at the centre of this one-of-a-kind copper ring, encircled by flowing wire like a small planet held securely in orbit.

Hematite is traditionally associated with grounding, stability and a steady connection to the Earth. Its dark, mirror-like surface offers a striking contrast against the warmth of the bright reclaimed copper, giving this ring a bold presence without unnecessary fuss.

I built the wrap around the shape of the stone, using layered copper circles to create movement while keeping the polished hematite firmly in place. The narrow double-wire band allows the sculptural setting—and that marvellous little metallic orb—to command the attention.

This is a strong, earthy talisman for anyone who appreciates jewellery with substance, symbolism and just a hint of celestial mystery.

Stone Energy

Hematite carries a strong, steady energy traditionally associated with grounding, focus and energetic protection. It is often chosen as a reminder to remain present, centred and connected to solid ground when life becomes noisy.
Its reflective metallic surface carries a fitting message: observe what surrounds you without allowing every passing energy to become your own. Ground first. Decide second. Proceed with purpose.

MoM Notes

This gleaming hematite sphere immediately reminded me of a small planet, so I used layered circles of reclaimed copper to create the feeling of an orbit around it.
The setting is sculptural without overpowering the stone. The copper provides security and movement while that dark, mirror-like hematite remains firmly at the centre of its own little universe—as it should.
The reclaimed copper is left bright and unsealed. It will naturally deepen and develop character over time, adding another chapter to the ring’s story. Copper may leave a temporary green mark on some skin—perfectly normal, harmless and simply copper being copper.
