Some stones arrive quietly. Pietersite brings weather.

At the centre of this necklace is a remarkable Pietersite cabochon alive with molten gold, ember brown, storm-cloud grey and flashes of inky blue. Its silky fibres catch the light like weather moving beneath the surface—restless, changeable and completely mesmerizing.

This stone had no interest in a quiet little setting, so I built it an ornate frame worthy of its drama. Layers of reclaimed copper, tiny beaded details and intricate wirework surround the cabochon in a richly patinated setting that feels part antique reliquary, part miniature storm portrait. Old-world splendour with a slightly wild heart—just how I like it.

In modern crystal lore, Pietersite is known as the Tempest Stone. It is associated with courage during change, clarity within confusion and the ability to remain centred when life begins rearranging the furniture without permission.

I shaped, hammered and woven every part of the copper frame by hand, creating a secure setting that honours rather than conceals the stone. One of a kind and handmade in New Brunswick, Canada, this is a talisman for storm walkers, change makers and those learning to trust their own direction.

Nature creates. I collaborate.

MoM Notes

This stone had no intention of being a wallflower. Its shifting gold, blue and storm-grey fibres demanded a setting with presence, so I built an elaborate copper frame that feels as though it might have been discovered in an old cabinet of curiosities.
The copper was reclaimed, stripped and shaped by hand before being given its dark, timeworn patina. I protected that finish with Renaissance Wax, a microcrystalline wax developed for museum conservation in London. I chose it because it provides the least obtrusive protection possible; however, it will gradually wear away with handling and time, allowing the copper to continue developing its own living finish.
No glue was used. You will receive the exact one-of-a-kind necklace shown.

Symbolism

In modern crystal lore, Pietersite carries the symbolism of a storm: powerful, transformative and impossible to control—but never without a still point somewhere within it. Rather than promising calm seas, the Stormkeeper reminds us that we can learn to navigate the weather.
Swirling Pietersite fibres → Movement • Transformation • Power within change
Golden flashes → Courage • Personal power • Light found within uncertainty
Storm-blue markings → Inner knowing
Ornate copper frame → Reverence • Preservation • Honouring what has endured
Beaded border → Waymarkers • Protection • A boundary held with intention
Dark patina → Age • Memory • A story still unfolding
Faceted chain → Light returning after the storm

Handmade with RE-Purpose!

Mother of Metal jewellery is handcrafted in New Brunswick, Canada using reclaimed copper and houghtfully sourced gemstones from around the world. Each piece is created with intention as wearable art and a personal talisman.
This commitment to reuse and sustainability is at the heart of my eco-friendly mission: "Jewellery with a RE-purpose".

Why Coppper?

Copper, the metal of the magician, is believed to amplify the energy of the stones it accompanies while supporting grounding, connection, and energy flow. In my work, the heavier gauges of copper are often reclaimed from castaway wiring, giving new life to old materials and supporting my eco-friendly mission: Jewellery with a RE-purpose!
